Parkering vid evenemang och festivaler
Tillfällig gräsparkering som överlever helgen, vädret och flera tusen fordon – och lämnar fältet i användbart skick efteråt.
Varför armering är viktigt här
Event parking concentrates a season's worth of traffic into a few days, often in unpredictable weather, on ground with no time to recover. Reinforcement is the difference between a field you can reuse next year and a recovery operation with a tractor. It also removes the liability of vehicles becoming stuck on site.
Var detta fungerar bra
Snabböversikt
| Sub-base | 50-100mm MOT Type 1, more on entrance and exit routes |
|---|---|
| Infill | Rootzone and grass, so the field returns to normal use between events |
| Typical loading | Cars and light vans in volume, in all weathers |
| Permeability | Fully permeable. Normally treated as a SuDS component in a drainage strategy. |
| Design life | 25 years, subject to documented installation. |
| Material | 100% recycled polypropylene, made in the UK. |
Så här installeras det
- Mark out the area and excavate to the depth of your sub-base plus the grid depth plus your infill blinding.
- Lay a woven geotextile across the formation, lapping joins by at least 300mm. This stops the sub-base and the subsoil mixing.
- Lay and compact the sub-base: 50-100mm MOT Type 1, more on entrance and exit routes. Compact in layers rather than all at once.
- Blind the sub-base with a thin layer of grit sand and screed it level. This is what gives you a flat finished surface.
- Push-fit the grids together across the area, working from one edge. Cut around obstacles with a jigsaw or fine-tooth saw.
- Fill the cells: Rootzone and grass, so the field returns to normal use between events. Work the fill in with a stiff brush so no cell is left hollow.
- Check the finished level. Nothing should stand proud of the cell walls, and no cell should be left under-filled.
Most installations are straightforward groundwork. The grids themselves push-fit together and need no fixings, adhesive or specialist tools.
Vilket gitterdjup?
The 40mm general duty grid across the parking field, so the grass recovers between events. The 30mm heavy duty grid on entrance, exit and marshalling routes, where every vehicle on site passes.
If you are between two options, take the heavier duty one. The cost difference across a typical project is small next to the cost of lifting and relaying a surface that was under-specified.
Det vanligaste misstaget vi ser
Reinforcing the field but not the entrance. Every vehicle on site passes through the gate, so it takes many times the traffic of any parking bay.
Vanliga frågor
Can it be installed temporarily?
The system is designed as a permanent installation, but many venues install it once on the regular parking field and use it every season.
How quickly can it be laid?
Grids interlock and push-fit, so large areas go down quickly with a small team.
What happens if it rains all weekend?
Confinement stops saturated ground shearing under tyres, which is the failure mode that strands vehicles.
Will the field recover for grazing or hay?
Yes. Grass grows through the cells and the field remains in agricultural use between events.
How many vehicles can we take?
Roughly 350 to 400 cars per hectare including circulation. Confirm against your event management plan and emergency access requirements.
What happens in a genuinely wet year?
Confinement stops saturated ground shearing under a tyre, which is the failure that strands vehicles and needs a tractor.
